When I visited my sister in Portland, Oregon, she wouldn’t shut up about The Box Social. It was her and her boyfriend’s favorite “walkable” cocktail lounge near their place and she sealed the deal to lure me over with one word: happy hour.
The night we chose to mingle with The Box Social fell on the hours past happy hour, but we decided to stop in anyway and sample some libations from their specialty cocktail menu.
My sister told me I had to go the bathroom while I was there. Well, that was most likely a given, but why exactly did I have to? “Just go,” she replied. So now I’m telling you to. Don’t ask questions, just do it, and be prepared to get a good laugh.
Happy hour is everyday, from 4pm – 6pm, and late night, Sunday – Thursday, 11pm – close, where draft beers are $4, house wine and bubbles are $5 and they serve up $4 -$6 cocktails, plus reduced-priced appetizers.
If you are in the neighborhood and have the opportunity to check this place out…do it. If you get a seat, you’re lucky, and if you order a drink from Miller, you’re already winning.
