"The Hudson"
Dear Love,
After making a deposit at the bank, I decided to make a stop at, The Hudson, on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Crescent Heights. I have always loved this "homey" spot with an open-window view of steady walkers and drivers. Unfortunately, many of its restaurant predecessors have not done so well at this location.
Walking in on this lovely early spring day, I am greeted by a very friendly female bartender. The entry area delivers a patio-like feel with a long leather booth runner and dark hardwood floors. And, speaking of wood, they have 2 mature trees sprouting up through the roof that were born before this establishment. Green Peace would give a nod.
I order a $3 Blue Moon Draft, which tastes significantly better than the one I ordered at Barney's Beanery yesterday. I feel a slight breeze as I scan the Happy Hour menu. Draft beers are $3. $12 pitchers (both with the exception of Guinness & Boddington's.) The well drinks are $4, selected Top Shelf $7, and decent red and white wine by the glass for $6. They offer an all-app $6 menu consisting of: smoked mozzarella risotto croquettes, bbq pork sliders, citrus marinated olives, mac & cheese, hot wings, short rib tacos and salt & pepper calamari. I like the vibe. Very chill. I also like that in addition to the 4-7 happy hour, they offer a late night happy hour on Sunday and Monday from 11p.m.-2a.m. On Wednesdays, "Johnny & The Bar Band," perform every Wenesday, 10p.m.-2a.m.
P.S. Jesse, the manager, just handed me a bella-tini shot on the house. Very yummy conclusion to my stay at, The Hudson :)
XXOO, Maren
