Red Rum: A Halloween Cocktail (recipe).

Red Rum Cocktail for Halloween.

Can you believe that Halloween is less than two weeks away! I have so many recipes I want to put up and so little time left. The holidays always flood my brain with lots of creative ideas, but sometimes it’s overload. So for the next couple of weeks, I’m focusing on three of my favorite new Halloween cocktail ideas.
Red Rum Cocktail for Halloween.

My first Halloween cocktail for you to try is called Red Rum. If you know what movie I’m referencing, please comment below. I’m a huge fan of this one, and I’d love to see who else is! This spooktacular spirit is actually made with rum and it’s very red. I found this amazing skeleton hand glass at the store and it works so well to house this delicious drink.

Love the smoky effect of this drink? I used dry ice to create a bone-chilling mist for my scary setting. Never use your bare hands to handle dry ice. I used tongs to prevent my hands from touching it. If you purchase it in a large “brick” form, then you may need a hammer to break it into small pieces fit for a glass. Always read the instructions that come with it when using dry ice – it’s extremely cold and you don’t want to hurt yourself.

Trader Joe's Cherry Juice

This colorful concoction gets its vibrant red color from 100% Cherry Juice (I used the Trader Joe’s brand cherry juice) and Luxardo’s Sour Cherry Syrup. I also added Velvet Falernum, lime juice, orgeat and soda for the other ingredients.

This “blood curdling” Halloween cocktail is delicious and refreshing. I would also work well as a punch to serve at your party! Want a batching recipe for the punch? Let me know, and I’ll whip it up. Happy Halloween and enjoy responsibly ;)
