Taven on the Green Re-opens in Central Park, NYC

The much anticipated re-opening of Tavern on the Green is finally here. Katy Sparks, executive chef (awarded the Best New Chef Award from Food and Wine Magazine ), will be debuting her rustic menu tonight with selections like Spanish Mackerel Ceviche, Faroe Island Salmon, Braised Lamb Shank with Creamed Chards, Warm Local Squid Salad with Fennel and Wood Roasted Japanese Eggplant with Pomegranate and Sheep's Milk Yogurt.

Still set in its picturesque backdrop of Central Park West in New York City, Tavern on the Green has undergone a transformation with new owners Jim Caiola and David Salama. It was originally designed in 1870 by Calvert Vaux to house sheep that grazed in Central Park's Sheep Meadow until it opened as an restaurant in 1934. Tavern on the Green has been featured in major movies over the decades including Beaches, Ghostbusters, Arthur, Alfie, Wall Street, Stella - the list goes on.

Lunch and brunch service is set to start in May of this year and they have a corkage fee of $25 (with up to 4 bottles max). If you're looking to land a reservation at the new Tavern on the Green, I'd suggest getting in line and making a move as soon as you can. This iconic and tavern-inspired restaurant is sure to wrangle in the same star-studded celebrities as before. Oh, and still no sheep allowed.
