Dream Girl: A Rum Cocktail Recipe from Lovehappyhour.com

Ok, stop everything! My new Dream Girl cocktail is insanely good and I am not exaggerating. This new combination of ingredients could be my favorite drink recipe in my cocktail vault this summer. The color is fantastic and the flavors are just perfect. I received some samples from the The Perfect Purée company of Napa the other day and I decided to play around with some of them and see if I like the product (and no, this is not a sponsored post).

I decided to first rock out their coconut purée and combine it with some fresh juices I had squeezed earlier that day. Unfortunately, I hadn't made it to the Farmers Market that day, so I was stuck with whatever fruits and herbs I already had stored in my refrigerator. I found some very ripe blueberries that were limited on their days and tried to think of something I could do with them. Lately I've been trying to not waste food in my fridge. Just because certain fruits aren't picture perfect, doesn't mean I can't use them. What do you do with overripe fruit that's a few days away from its expiration date? Make simple syrup with them! And that's exactly what I did.

I crushed up one cup of blueberries in my shaker tin and then added them to a small saucepan with 1 cup of sugar and water. I boiled the ingredients until the sugar was dissolved and then I strained the syrup and cooled it. Boom - blueberry simple syrup!

The picture I took of the cocktail and the taste of this drink inspired me to call it: Dream Girl. I about melted when I tried it; dreamy drink fairies danced on my tongue and instantly transported me to a tropical island! Crazy, I know, but it was almost mouth-magical. You are what you drink, right? Think about it. How many times have you ordered a drink on some bar's cocktail menu based on the name? Now you can pick this drink because of the name and enjoy it, too! Oh, and this rum cocktail is for a perfect bachelorette party.

I highly recommend using fresh squeezed juices for this drink to experience the kind of cocktail joy that is intended for you. The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley company will actually send you free samples of their products if you work in food service, FYI, but otherwise you can order the coconut purée directly from their site. Cheers, and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more cocktail recipes and fun!
