Last week, a couple of my happy hour amigas and I headed up to Sunset Boulevard to for some cocktails and small bites. We all had wanted a new place we had never tried and also one that one walkable in our West Hollywood neighborhood so it was decided that we’d meet the RH Bar at the Andaz Hotel. I quickly looked up our happy hour destination spot and learned that RH stood for Riot House. The Riot House happy hour used to be once a week I believe, but luckily for us, it’s now offered, everyday from 5pm – 7pm.
The first two out our group of three arrived and ordered drinks with our server. He let us know that they didn’t have their $5 Sangria that day which was kind of a bummer, so we ordered to of their white wines by the glass. My friend went ahead and ordered the sliders of the happy hour menu and the hummus off the regular menu.
By the time our sliders and third friend arrived, the place started to pick up a bit. The interior of the RH restaurant was fairly quiet which gave me an opportunity to walk around and observe the unique open kitchen concept. It looked like a fun spot to catch lunch or dinner and really watch what was going on. The RH bar portion where we were seated opens up to Sunset Boulevard and the actual bar has a long white marble top with two flat screen televisions. There's actually a great window view to people watch and check out all of the crazy action on Sunset.
The pulled pork sliders ($7) we got for the table were gooey, chewy and the addition of pickled onions helped balanced the sweetness of the sauce. The hummus had a lovely presentation with some olive oil nestled in the center of it and was accompanied by pita points. Both dishes were simple and tasty.
The $7 glass of happy hour white wine was, according to our friendly server, a French blend and very crisp. Other happy hour drink options include a $5 beer or glass of sangria, $7 red wine and $8 sparkling wine or well drinks. For happy hour “bites” you can choose from $5 french fries or sweet potato fries or additional $7 sliders. Also, valet is $7 with validation.
RH Bar happy hour at Andaz is simple and decent. Look, if you’re in the mood for a hotel happy hour on Sunset, then it’s nice just to have another option to choose from. I will make a small mention that there were some attractive businessmen lounging around in the bar area (at multiple tables) – just saying.
