I grew up wanting to be an actress as long as I can remember so naturally after I graduated college, I packed my bags and headed to Los Angeles to make it big. Things didn't "blow up" for me the way I had hoped, but I've sure had quite the ride.
Being a Hollywood starlet requires maintenance. You need to look the part by working out, dressing stylishly, networking and studying your craft, but after you've put in all that work, you deserve to treat yourself. You are what you drink, right?
Which leads me to my latest cocktail recipe: The Hollywood Starlet. This cocktail is cool, attractive and slightly spicy - the perfect ingredients for an up and coming star. Plus, I've added some of the new Skinny Girl Sparklers (flavored sparking water) to save you some calories (only 5 per serving) and the star fruit itself only has about 30 calories in the entire fruit! The star of this drink though, is the star fruit; you can't help but notice it's presence - it's shaped like a star and it's very unique.
I'm trying to save us a few bucks as well. I found the star fruit on sale at Vons Pavillions for only $2. The 1.75 Liter of Flip Flop rum was on $6.99 at Trader Joe's - are you kidding me?! I bought the ruby red grapefruit juice and jalepenos at the 99cent store and the Skinny Girl Sparklers ran me about a dollar.Take it from Gloria Swanson, "I have decided that when I am a star, I will be every inch and every moment a star." This drink has her name all over it.
Muddle jalepeno wheels and slice of star fruit in your Premium Cocktail Shaker Set - 24 oz Stainless Steel shaker tin. Continue to add your rum, ruby red grapefruit juice, Langer's Pineapple Coconut Juice, Skinny Girl's Sparklers and ice to your tin. Transfer liquid in tin to bucket glass and then back into shaker tin. Repeat to better mix ingredients. Garnish with a new slice of star fruit and a jalepeno whe Enjoy!
