“It's the coast of Mexico meets Tiki,” explains Bar Manager Joe Swifka, when describing his inspiration behind the new fall cocktail menu at Salt’s Cure in Hollywood.
Salt’s Cure, known for its in-house butchering, fantastic meats and house-crafted ingredients, recently launched a new fall cocktail menu and it wasn’t what I was expecting. Swifka showcases his favorite spirits “du jour” with drinks that will transport you South of the Border and surprisingly, he leaves off a fall favorite staple: whiskey. He’s a huge rum fan and it shows.
My mouth definitely took a walk on the wild side with the Tulum Cooler (white rum, coconut water, avocado, lime, chili). It’s made with avocado, yes…avocado. Perhaps the avocado element may be too much for you to take in, but the drink definitely leaves an impression.
The night I stopped in, I listened to some great jazz, which plays every Tuesday night from 9pm to close.
I must admit, it was nice to see a departure from the whiskey-heavy menus that are plentiful during the autumnal season. I found the new fall cocktail at Salt’s Cure very…refreshing.
