Valentine’s Day can get pretty pricey, what with all the flowers and chocolate and jewelry and dinner. Not everyone can afford all of these things so that is why I’ve put a list together of Los Angeles restaurants/bars/lounges that are having specials or romantic happy hours or have a fixed price that isn’t too expensive.
Remember, it is the thought that counts. Don’t feel pressured to do something expensive for the one you love. However, I would suggest that you do something for them. Despite what girls (or guys) say about not caring about this “holiday” they most likely do. You don’t have to get them diamonds or flowers or whatever other romantic stuff every grocery store, CVS and shopping center is selling. Take them to one of these cheaper, but still fantastic restaurants. You’ll be saving money, sippin’ cocktails and reveling in the mood lighting.
Scarpetta
If you want swank it up this Friday with some classy surroundings and all night drink specials, then Scarpetta at Montage is your perfect "single to mingle" spot. On Valentine's Day, enjoy Scarpetta's bar cocktail menu aka "happy hour" in the bar and lounge area with $4 selected beers, $6 wines and $8 specialty cocktails from 4pm - 10:30pm. They will also have a special Valentine's Day menu available in the bar area that night.

Biergarten
If you want to start with a beer float before your dinner you’ve got to try out the Biergarten. They have one with Ommegang beer called a Chocolate Indulgence and another with Alesmith Brewing called My Bloody Valentine. You can get them both for $7.
Biergarten, Korea Town
The Short Stop
It’s kind of a dive bar, but it could be the place you stop after a fancy dinner or you might just go here first because the happy hour deal is pretty great. They have bar snacks specials and $3 well plus $4 draft. This is all from 5PM-10PM. It might not be your first choice, but the bartenders are friendly and if you’re in the Echo Park area it’s a good pick.

Plan Check Kitchen + Bar
Technically, they’re calling it the Anti-Valentine’s Day at their new location but I don’t think this should stop you from going whether you are anti-valentine’s day or not. They have an all-day happy hour (11:30AM-2AM) and 2 for $14 cocktails. The vibe is a bit more casual than others on the list so if you’re out to just have a good time, be with your girl/boy and enjoy good, cheap drinks then this is the place for you.
Plan Check, Fairfax Village Wirtshaus
Wirtshaus is a German restaurant that is giving you a free sparkling if you order an entrée off their regular menu. I know it’s not technically a happy hour, but it’s a deal and I’m all about deals. Plus, Wirtshaus has over 35 German beers.

La Sandia
They have quite the deal for you at this authentic Mexican restaurant in Santa Monica. From Feb. 14-16 they will be serving up a 3-course dinner and signature beverage/cocktail for only $29. If you love Mexican food, Santa Monica and good guac then bring your date here for some Latin love. They also have a late night happy hour on Friday’s at the tequila bar and lounge for after you eat the delectable 3-course meal. What’s a Mexican dinner without some tequila?

Coupa Café, Golden Triangle
The Melting Pot
This restaurant is on the pricey side, but I had to have it on the list. They have a ton of romantic options (like having rose petals on the table) plus their food is to-die for. They aren’t serving their regular menu on the 14th or 15th, but have a delectable Valentine’s menu that won’t disappoint. The prices vary from $65-$350 all depending on what you want. If you want the ultimate romance package it’s going to be $350, but if you just want a nice dinner in a romantic environment with yummy fondue it’ll be $65. Either way, it’s going to be delicious, romantic and sweet.
