I never thought the day would come…but I’m slowly turning in to my mother! My mom is a total tea fanatic. Major. I wish I could show you her teacup collection because you would freak out. They are
everywhere in her home. Instead of counting sheep, I count her teacups. You get the point. Anyway, I didn't get into the whole tea-drinking thing until now. It started with a hot cup of tea at night to help me fall asleep and now I’ve turned to drinking it during the day, too. I'm hooked.
Chamomile was my gateway tea; it’s soothing and mild, and a perfect companion when I’m cozied up in my pajamas and watching an episode of
Nailed It, which my husband just turned me on to. That show is hilarious – more on that later. After chamomile, I tried a chamomile lavender tea blend and got even more obsessed... and that’s what finally led me to create my new nighttime favorite:
Lavender Blueberry Chamomile Latte.
And no, you don’t have to drink this only at night, but it's so soothing. It’s also a perfect spa day or self-care day drink – or just any old time of day drink. Because it’s incredibly delicious.
I’ve tried a few variations of this drink that I love, but this Lavender Blueberry Chamomile Latte recipe I’m posting today is the easiest and quickest to make. I make this latte with chamomile tea (Celestial Seasoning Chamomile Honey Vanilla Tea is perfect for this), Trader Joe’s Blueberry Lavender Almond Beverage, and a homemade lavender honey. The results? Herbal and honey heaven. I searched online and there a several lavender honey options to buy, but I got impatient and created my own instead with some culinary lavender and honey I purchased from the farmers market.
I discovered the Trader Joe’s Blueberry Lavender Almond Beverage a few weeks ago and it works so well with this drink. TJ’s also makes a matcha version that I can’t wait to try! Let me know if you have tried it in the comments section below. If you happen to own a milk frother, it will take the latte next level and add a foamy topper to your tea drink.
If you don’t have a milk frother, simply heat up the blueberry almond beverage and stir it in with your tea. Trader Joe’s also happened to be selling fresh Chamomile flowers on the day I was shopping so I used them as a garnish for this drink.
I hope you get a chance to make this, and stay tuned for my lavender and blueberry cocktail recipe!
Lavender Blueberry Chamomile Latte
(makes 1 drink)
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup hot water
2 chamomile tea bags (I like Celestial Seasoning Honey Chamomile tea) or 2 tablespoons loose Chamomile tea
3/4 oz lavender honey syrup (reduce if you like it less sweet)
1/3 cup Trader Joe’s Blueberry Lavender Almond Beverage
Garnish:
fresh Chamomile flowers (optional)
Lavender Honey Syrup:
1 cup honey
1 cup water
1/4 cup culinary lavender buds
*Bring honey, water, and lavender buds to a very low simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn off heat steep/cool for up to 2 hours (for more intense lavender flavor). Strain out lavender buds and keep in an air-tight container for up 1-2 weeks in the fridge.
Directions:
Steep tea in hot water for 3-5 minutes. In the meantime, add almond beverage to frother and froth until warm and foamy. If you don’t have a frother, warm in the microwave for 45 seconds or on stovetop until ready. Remove teabags and stir in lavender honey syrup and warm almond beverage. Enjoy!
