BOA restaurant on Sunset is one of my favorite spots to grab a great steak and do some serious people watching, but the occasional dinner can definitely add up. So, when I heard that BOA was launching a new happy hour menu, I had to try it.

My girlfriend and I arrived at the BOA happy hour a little after 5pm, but the bar was already hopping. Luckily, we found the last two open seats next to each other and scanned the happy hour menu. The drink menu boasted a $5 BOA Fusion (vodka infused with fresh fruit), $5-6 wine by the glass, $6 imported beer, a $7 Fleetwood Margarita and an $8 Luckman Martini. Luckman Martini and Fleetwood Margarita at hand, our eyes feasted on the abundantly stocked happy hour menu and handsome businessmen nearby.

The appetizers offered on the happy hour menu were plentiful, so we ordered a lot. General Manager, Seth Glassman, stopped by to say hello and recommended we try the oyster shooters. The oyster shooters were divine; we ordered 1 of each flavor: Bloody Mary, Pineapple and Gazpacho, and Kumquat Granita with Chimichurri (I googled "Chimichurri" - green sauce).

Following the shooters, we tried spicy steak tartare on crispy rice cakes ($6) and the crispy calamari ($7). The steak tartar created a nice juxtaposition of textures; tender and crunchy. Calamari is a bar food favorite, but BOA's chef displayed the calamari with a playful twist, making it appear to look like onion rings. And since that wasn't enough food for us, we went for the Hook's aged cheddar and artichoke dip served with housemade potato chips ($7). The dip was a little too creamy for my taste, but the freshly fried potato chips made it all worth it.

BOA in West Hollywood offers happy hour Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm in the bar and cocktail lounge area. If you're looking to nosh on some amazing happy hour dishes and possibly sneak a celebrity sighting, BOA Steakhouse is definitely the place to be. I love that BOA has introduced some upscale happy hour food and turned up the volume on some old school happy hour dishes as well. If you can splurge a bit, I suggest ordering the tableside Caeser salad - you won't regret it. Arriving at 5:15pm we had definitely beat the paparazzi, but we couldn't beat their happy hour prices!
